Family Law-archive

Family law matters are emotional for everyone involved, particularly children.  A lawyer can ensure the strongest arguments are presented in your favor, and where children are involved, that all sides come to an agreement that protects the “best interests” of your children while also taking into consideration the demands of your life.

Family Law Issues:

Our office handles a variety of family law matters in both Family Court and New York State Supreme Court, including

  • Child Custody and Visitation
  • Child and Spousal Support
  • Orders of protection
  • Enforcement of settlement obligations
  • Uncontested divorces

Mr. MacKay’s admissions in both New York and California uniquely allow him to assist clients who may have family issues in either state and want to retain a single attorney capable of handling potential proceedings in both states.

Article 81 Guardianships:

Our office also handles Article 81 guardianship matters under the Mental Hygiene Law, which may arise in the family context when one family member alleges that another family member needs a guardian of the person or property due to incapacitation.  These matters are emotional, complex and subject to expedited timeframes.  As part of the New York State Unified Court System Part 36 program, Mr. MacKay has been appointed by New York State Supreme Court judges to act as an attorney for, and defend, alleged incapacitated people in Article 81 hearings in the Buffalo and Western New York area.  Let our office put this experience to work for you, whether you are looking into bringing an Article 81 petition to protect someone, or you find yourself or a loved one the subject of such a proceeding.
